By Nathan Thomas According to Everyday Health, the 5 signs you are too sick for work (in our case lectures) are:
You have a contagious illness
You are sicker than you think
Your university is not 'sick friendly' e.g too few places to wash your hands
Your medications make you drowsy
Your kids might be sick (probably does not apply to you)
The common cold is the most common illness among students, whether you get it by too much going out or too much petting... It is easy to stay in bed and wallow in your own self pity like most students, but 9 times out of 10 the cold is not as bad as you think. This guy, Dr Josh Axe, suggested taking elderflower syrup to cure your cold. Elderflower syrup is practically impossible in the shop to find and costs a fortune. He also suggests biting into a garlic clove. Not the best advice. Below, are some more relevant and achievable ways of making it to lectures with a cold.
A hot honey and lemon is probably a more convenient way of dampening the cold.
Sleeping comes natural for most students, with a cold, you should add two extra hours onto the average of the eight you should get a night. 10 hours sleep!!
Stay hydrated, it flushes you out
Eat chicken soup, it helps reduce congestion and the salt within the soup helps boost electrolytes.
